family days / home / mmmm meals / wedded bliss

To catch you up on this weeks happenings, it started with my mom writing early in the week to ask if she could bring my Aunt Sarah up for her 50th birthday to see the house and have a luncheon with her sisters. I thought it would be real fun so I set out to get the place in order while Greg was still away in LA. Then this happened.

As it turns out, I have defiant limbs. I actually watched my hand dump an entire cup of hot coffee on myself and each surrounding sheet. Needless to say, the house smelled like wet animal for the whole day and probably into the next party day. We are slowly breaking our wedding presents in… no.. more… perfectly fluffly.. white comforter… :'( ah well.. The party turned out really well and was lots of fun. And Greg came back that night so all was well : )

The next day was the Fourth of July which we planned to enjoy from home but got depressed being all alone on such a family holiday and decided to go down to Santa Cruz. We stayed up long enough to hear a random marching band go by in town playing Jimmy Eat World tunes. It was strange but happy. I also horrified Greg by serving him my “patriotic” breakfast that didn’t exactly align with his ideas of nutrition.

Luckily Santa Cruz was much less foggy and a whole lot less windy with loads more fun so we decided this was a good choice.

To avoid traffic, we went through the wooded highway the entire way home. It took the same amount of time as sitting in the traffic, but we were moving and it was pretty. Clearly, it was fun.

We hung out at the pool long enough for Greg to get severely burned on both sides and later went to see my dad’s band play at Sky Park and watch the fireworks show. Greg and Donna Thompson were randomly in town so they came to visit for a bit which was nice.

And thennnn we sat in the car for an hour waiting to get out of the parking lot.

The rest of the weekend was filled with more pool time, a whole lot of relaxing and much much feasting. With these wonderful people.

I also told Greg I wanted to have a kid and he pretty much choked and spilled his drink simultaneously. Sorry parents, that won’t be happening anytime soon : ) Happy Monday!

Weekend With The Welty’s

Greg and I love having people up to our house – I’m not sure if it’s because we are starved for human interaction or just have a pure love for hosting or maybe a bit of both but we were so stoked to have my parents up this weekend. We spent the day frantically running around town looking for these special coupe glasses we loved and thought would be so special to present our delicious cocktails in, but had to return home defeated as no store carried them. (No mothers, we did not think to call ahead). Luckily, mom and dad were late to arrive and we were able to get the house into a presentable state and get most of the hors d’oeuvres made. We do love to eat. And drink. And be merry. Oh, and Greg is the best help of probably all living husbands. He cleaned and cleaned with me and even swept the front patio and is just, well, amazing and wonderful and and and…

We were both sweaty and hot by the time mom and dad came but I just love hosting with him. It brings us both so much joy : )

We ate and ate and Greg made really good Caipirinhas. Then we went for a lovely stroll around the block and through town to work up yet another appetite for more feasting at our favorite fish restaurant in Sausalito.

We had NEVER seen a line this long here.. especially at 8:15pm…

Anyways, they have hands down the best fish and chips you’ll ever have in all of your days living.

Then on Sunday, we went down to town to have a scrumptious hash and eggs breakfast right on the water. It was SOOOOO HOT. Probably the hottest day I’ve ever experienced in Sausalito. Since he’s been working from home, Greg’s been missing his work commute on the ferry so we took it over to Fisherman’s Warf to spend the day wandering about with the tourists.

It’s kinda fun to do the touristy things when people come to visit. We saw a pretty neat-o submarine and a missile…

And then wandered down tourist central to find some champagne and perhaps some crab cocktails.

Weeeeee found some! Naturally, we followed that up with some ice cream that melted very quickly on this hot day..

And headed back to this place we call home.

I just dropped Greg off at the airport cause he had to fly out to LA for work. I left feeling so very blessed to have such a wonderful, loving husband. I am so SO lucky. And then I came home to this hidden under my pillow..

He’s dear. I love being a Nettles : )

date night

We live on a hill which is wonderful because it means almost everyone gets a view of the bay. This also means I should be in shape by now. I am not. So, yesterday I decided to take advantage of the famous Sausalito steps and get this booty into summer shape. This idea led to wheezing. But! I should be in shape in no time. I’m just sure of it!! At least they are pretty and at the bottom is the most peaceful lapping of water. I went down there to just sit a while and it was so serene. I wondered why I didn’t do this everyday. This must change.

When Greg finished work we went to town for an evening espresso. It was the most GLORIOUS evening – the perfect temperature and not too many people out and just gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Since we were down there… and the oven was soooo hot to heat up for dinner…. and we were both getting hungry rapidly…. naturally we decided to get an appetizer and mayyybe a cocktail at The Spinnaker which is a real nice elderly people restaurant right on the water. So, pretty, but not great food. Second time around, lesson learned. But! It was a gorgeous night and we had a lovely walk and got to see the sky turn pink and it was just warm and magical.

And then we came home to this.

It was HUGE. It splattered.

date night / wedded bliss

Greg and I celebrated five whole months of married life yesterday! Mostly this is impressive because we both remembered. We never remember dates. I am going to set up countdown reminders on my phone when it comes to our one year.. We celebrated with champagne and sushi but decided that just wasn’t enough so we opted for an additional pancake picnic on the living room floor. I love that guy a lot. To summarize in a nutshell, here’s why. This dance:

And his ability to do this:

Mostly because it makes me weep tears of joy like no other. It’s almost the weeeeekenddd!!!! Well, at least it’s a day closer : )

Guuurls Day

family days / mmmm meals

It’s sunny again today but yesterday morning was absolutely dreamy.. it was rainy and un-rushed and oh so lovely. Best of all my sister and mom came to visit. Greg was sweet enough to go visit dad for the day so I could spend some time with them. He earned extra points for stocking the fridge with a mini champagne bottle and “festive” sparkling waters.. it’s the little things ; ) He’s pretty great. I am so so blessed my family gets along with him so well. He’s pretty amazing though so… what’s not to like! We had a really cozy day.. We got some chowder down by the water and then came back to the house to watch ridiculously girly movies and cook and bake. We made some pretty delicious homemade pot pies and I FINALLY got to use my mini pie dishes we got for our wedding. We got some pretty sweet stuff for our wedding. We were seriously blown away by peoples kindness and generosity. I think the reason our house is so dreamy to live in is because of all the love shown to us by our family and friends. Almost everything we have was given to us by someone we love and that makes it extra special. I especially love nice kitchen tools – I can go in Williams Sonoma and just hang out in there for hours touching everything I can, so to cook in a kitchen where I’m in love with even the spatulas, welp that’s a dream come true. God sure did bless us and we are so so thankful. Happy hump day!

date night / hikes! / home / wedded bliss

Turns out Greg and I have been married for five months tomorrow and have already had lots of adventures, most of which we are forgetting rapidly. Blast you memory! So, we wanted to start this lil journal to remember the fun of our newlywedness and keep in touch with our friends and family as we move from here to there. Life has been soaring by – we moved up to this house of preciousness in Sausalito and have been in dream land.

Greg recently got offered an amazing new job in LA and has currently been working from home but we’ll be making the move down there at the end of the year. So for now I am treasuring the beauty that is Sausalito : ) This weekend was wonderfully lovely.. Friday nights are date nights so naturally Greg took me to a zombie movie.. I. HATE. zombie movies. But this one wasn’t sooo bad and it was nice to get out. Plus, Greg always makes a cocktail beforehand just like his parents did so I always have that to look forward to… he is THE BEST at the cocktails. They are delicious!!

Also, I knew he loved me cause he put on the Beach Boys while we sipped, which he hates but I love cause it reminds me of summer. On Saturday we went for a hike up Mt Tam which I love to do except we had a pesky bee swarming us which made it kinda miserable. But it was still gorgeous and I got to spend the whole day with my love so I was happy.

In other news, it’s been gorgeous summer weather for weeks and weeks but the last three days have been oh so cozy and rainy. I’ve loved it. We’ve been enjoying stayin inside and watching movies and things. Until next time – I’ll try to keep this updated frequently! I hope you are all doing well. We love and miss you so so sooo much!!!
