Oh man, this vacation came at just the right time. I lost my child… in my own house… sprang up to get another crying child and completely obliterated my computer… and was basically at the point of a mental breakdown every. single. day. These babies, man, I love them but they may just kill me. To say I feel refreshed is basically the understatement of the century. You know when you try to think of something and sort of sift through various thoughts in your head? When I would do that, there were no thoughts. It was like searching for something in a dark, empty place. I can’t put sentences together, words larger than four letters are hard to come by and I use the word “thing” for almost everything. BUT Hawaii is beautiful and we had the best time. So, thank you parents for taking our babies for a week! It was the most wonderful gift :) A few hundred pictures below. You think I’m kidding.
The first day we spent down at the lagoon which you know, was sort of awesome for your inner child.
There were slides and turtles to swim with and all fun things.
Plus I got to hang out with these awesome people all day and there was no one behind me whining. and whining. and whining.
It was lovely.
Except there was this sweet family beside us that had the cutest little toddler and a baby which obviously made me miss my babies a crazy amount and wish upon a star that we had brought them. Funny enough, they looked at us and said they wished they had left theirs at home. YOU JUST CAN’T WIN.
That one time you try to finally take a picture together and SOMEONE bombs you.
OK it was pretty nice.
Seriously, we have skills when it comes to trying to be in the same picture. He says I’m as light as a feather. He says.
And this is when we snuck onto the forbidden chaise reserved for the very rich, and the breeze was perfect and all was right in the world. I love that man.
DOLPHINS!
AND MAN-MADE WATERFALLS!
They don’t seem to struggle with pictures like we do :/
The next day we snuck into the Fairmont since it was right on the water and I became very, veryyyy happy.
I mean, handsome men delivered me drinks and fanned me with palms…
This. This is my happy place.
Klein does handstands when he has tequila. It is very impressive.
And that night we went to the most magical dinner right on the water. Again, all these things make me so, so happy.
Apparently I like pictures of palm trees.
Ok why do they look perfect..
And we always look sort of… creepy?
Sigh, maybe in heaven I’ll be photogenic.
Greg ordered a martini and got laughed at.
And there was lovely live music and crashing waves and the warmest of airs and it was all so wonderful.
The next day we went to the other side of the island for a short lil hike which sorta blew me away.
Complete with rooster.
CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE ALL THAT GREEEEEEEEN!?!
And now prepare yourself for one thousand pictures of plants because I couldn’t stop.
REAL WATERFALL!!!
Let’s try this again.
Mhmm.
Seriously, Kleins. If you ever give picture taking lessons, the Nettles are in.
And then there’s that time, you’re just walking along and here comes a fox and his friend, fox.
The sunsets. THE SUNSETS!
And then there was another lovely meal and lovely company and all that AND THEN the next day we were off to our day of excessive splurging. And it was unreal.
YOU GUYS. The green! I just can’t take it! I can’t grow a thing in my garden no matter how hard I try so this was just so good for my soul.
Ok, the Four Seasons. My goodness. First, you sit down on a little couch because, eww standing, and they come over to talk to you about your stay and bring you little pineapple skewers and moist towels and fresh fruit juice and put that smile on your husbands face ^^ If this was my whole experience, I would have been beyond impressed. Gimme a pineapple skewer on a pretty tray and my mind is blown.
Then they have to go and wrap their cords in pretty fabric sleeves and now I will judge any hotel that doesn’t have sleeves for their cords. TRASH. Just kidding. But seriously. Sleeves. And flowers. :)
And then we walked around the grounds with our mouths open.
Seriously. We did not belong there, the children we are. And it was fairly obvious with our stupid grins and our excessive pictures BUT WHO CARES. We were two happy individuals eating one delicious breakfast looking at the most beautiful ocean.
And then Greg went to a whole new level of happy when he saw they had cornhole.
And a hammock.
I just thought the colors were so stunning. First with the sand and then the rock. It was just so gorgeous I can’t even explain.
AND THEN we got to lay on those lovely chaises and swim in that warm, warm water and order delicious drinks and danggit that was nice.
^^Just guess who ordered the pink drink ;)
And then, there are some things in marriage that creep your partner out an extraordinary amount ^^ this is Greg’s. Obviously I do it as often as possible :] I’m incredibly mature.
He’s very forgiving :)
AND THEN THEY BRING YOU COLD GRAPES ON SKEWERS. The skewers, you guys. They just made me so happy!
Greg asked me what I would be disappointed in if it didn’t happen while we were there, and I said 1) swim in the ocean (cause our first hotel was sort of inland) and 2) drink something out of a pineapple. I finally got my pineapple :)
And there were fluffy beds!
And pretty views and flowers!
And an outdoor shower! which Greg is demonstrating here..
And then we had a lovely final dinner where Greg ordered the whole menu and acted confused as to why I was so surprised ;)
^^I never did get a picture of those flowers in the daylight but they were just so perfect I couldn’t stop being amazed by them!
And then there was the most delicious breakfast on our little patio with our own little toaster (again PSH mind. blown. by the toaster ;) ) and then we cried inside as we ordered our taxi to the airport.
;)
Hawaii, you were beautiful! Until next time!
So very happy for you two – it looks like you had an absolutely wonderful vacation! By the way… I only dream of being photographed – just once in my life – as lovely as you !
Isn’t it all so beautiful? Now you know WHY there is a dance or song or chant ( or all of these things) for each type of tree, flower , rock etc. !! Even the ancient people KNEW what an incredible blessing their homeland was!
